Don't know about these Elixir1 brakes
I like this bike, but the front brakes are doing my head in. They make noises. You readjust them, and they are beautifully quiet for a while...and then they moo again. Went for a decent bike ride today, and the more experienced rider had a look. Said the bottom calliper bolt was not biting. Lucky he had some lock-tight to get me home.
Will get to Andy this week and see what can be done.

Fork upgrade recomendation
Just to add to my review, you dont need to go crazy on forks like I did with the Rockshox SID RLT, I scored a new set cheap :)
What I would initially have suggested was the RST FIRST-30 with remote lockout that cyclingdeal sells, but they are out of them now. So I would recommend is something like the Suntour EPICON with remote lockout, on Ebay you can get them for $250.00 delivered, a lightweight Air fork with excellent features and really well made.

A great platform to start from!
We bought the MBK SLX for my mate, and I would have got one too but the dimensions did not suit me, his arms longer but we are same height, I went with the TEAM 5.0 Shimano.
Forks: cheap spinner forks, they hold the front wheel up but thats about it ;). I knew that though, and the rest of the package suited my size better, riding it I could feel how nimble and quick it was going to be.
Top shelf 7005 frame with a tapered headtube, means upgrading forks and headset will be easy and the head of the frame is very tough. The Mavic XM119 rims are super tough, full deore groupset inc cluster, and the great AVID Elixer 1 brakes with 180mm discs as standard.
I fitted a set of Rockshox SID RLT with a JetBlack cartridge headset (super bargain quality headset at 39 bucks) and the bike is superb, easily the best value around for me. Its a fast bike, very little friction through the drivetrain, and so far stands up to everything thrown at it. I am not a hard rider, but like to push trails and will bunny hop small mounds etc. I stand to climb hills which with my weight and power puts a LOT of force through the drivetrain and wheels, the Deore gear has handled it so far as one would expect. Cannot recommend this bike enough, just fit some better forks and you got yourself a $1300++ bike.

Three weeks of use
I am a beginner to cycling. I wanted to get an intermediate bike for fun and occasional ride to office. Should say the staff were very helpful and the rates were very competitive.
Only trouble i had was, that i wanted to fit a kick stand on this bike. I couldn't find a cheap stand that would fit in. The hole on the center frame is small that most of the stands you might find from Bigw or else were wouldn't fit in. So you might have to stick with Hasa bike stands or get something else from ebay.
But that doesnt put the functionality of the bike in any way less. It performs very well. I hope after my first service my experience would go from good to best.
